Our Relationship with Living Positive
Global Youth Volunteer Network (GYVN) has been a partner of Living Positive Kenya (LPK) since
before Living Positive was officially founded in 2007. GYVN teams and interns support LPK in
such important and powerful ways, from building strong relationships with the women to assisting
with building the daycare. Our relationship with LPK has led to many mutually beneficial
outcomes, including the sponsorship of over 40 children from LPK.
We have some exciting news for all those donors who send money or would like to begin sending money to LPK from Canada.Starting in December 2014, GYVN will accept donations on behalf of Living Positive and issue tax receipts for contributions. GYVN will be facilitating the sponsorship from Canada to cut down on ransaction costs and administrative work. We are very happy about this new development, and are very grateful for this opportunity to strengthen our relationship and work together! We hope that this will lead to many benefits for LP, GYVN, and independent donors. GYVN will accept and facilitate the sponsorship program in Canada. Sponsorship is the best way you can help children in the Ngong Community. When you sponsor a child, you are paying for them to go to school, nothing more and nothing less. Just to go to school, the children are required to have uniforms, food fees, medical fees and stationary. If you would like to send money for the child sponsorship program, here are some ways that you can send a donation.
As of November 2015, the exchange rate for Kenya shillings is 76 Ksh for $1 CAN. Please use this exchange rate when sending money. (Before sending money, please check the exchange rate as it may change).
Note: If you are donating online to the Christmas Drive for LPK, please make sure to choose “Child Sponsorship – Kenya” and note your full name and mailing address in the comment box. If your bank requires that your password be longer than “Kenya”, please make it “KenyaLPK”.
How can I donate money to LP through GYVN?
GYVN can receive money by cheque, Interac e-transfer, and Canada Helps (for credit card payments).
If you would like to pay by cheque, follow these steps:
Print out the donor slip and then fill it out.
Mail the donor slip and the cheque to:
Global Youth Volunteer Network
If you would like to pay by Interac e-transfer, follow these steps:
Log in to the Online Banking section of your bank and click Interac e-transfers. Enter email@example.com as the recipient
You will be asked to set up a security question and password for Global to accept the money. To simplify the process, please use the following question and answer:
Question: What country is my sponsorship going to?
In the message box, please put the name of your sponsor child
If you would like to pay by visa, follow these steps:

Put the name of your sponsor child in the “Message/Instructions” box.

How much do I donate?
You will donate the amount that you owe Living Positive using the exchange rate of 78 Ksh per $1 CAD. For example, if you owe 45,000 Ksh, then you would send Global $576.92 plus $15 admin fee. Please check the GYVN website for the most updated exchange rate.
How do I get a tax receipt?
GYVN will mail you a tax receipt for all donations over $15.
Who do I email if I want to know how much I owe?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your continued support for Living Positive Kenya and Global Youth Volunteer Network!
We love you big!
